Full Product DetailsTelevision veteran Donald P. Bellisario -- whose extraordinary hit list includes Kojak, Magnum P.I., Quantum Leap, and many others -- added this excellent crime drama to his resume in the fall of 2003. The NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is charged with investigating all crimes involving Navy and Marine Corps personnel, regardless of rank or position, which yields a series that combines elements of TV giants CSI, Law & Order, and, not surprisingly, Bellisario’s own JAG. The show follows a special team, headed by Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), that operates outside of the military chain of command. A skilled investigator and tough interrogator, Gibbs leads a unit that includes street-smart former homicide detective Anthony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly), offbeat forensic scientist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), and experienced physician Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum). During Season 1, another member -- computer expert Tim McGee (Sean Murray) -- is added to the team. And, of course, there's Secret Service agent Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander), who first appears in the suspenseful "Yankee White," helping Gibbs and the others investigate the mysterious death of a naval commander aboard Air Force One. In another excellent episode, "Bête Noire," a terrorist (Rudolf Martin) infiltrates the base and takes several hostages -- including Ducky and Caitlin. That same character returns in the superb season finale, "Reveille," this time plotting to assassinate the president. Ed Hulse, Barnes & Noble
