Editorial Reviews

The eccentric owner of a magical toy store surprises the shop's manager by turning over ownership to her in a warm-hearted comedy fantasy directed by Zach Helm and starring Jason Bateman, Dustin Hoffman, and Natalie Portman. Portman plays the manager of the store that seems to be a reflection of the people who run it, and Bateman stars as the detail-oriented accountant assigned the task of assessing the establishment's monetary value. October 20, 2009: Although this film did not do well in theatres it is a well acted and scripted movie for kids and adults alike. It reminds the viewer about friendship and finding joy in life and the inquisitive and believing nature of children. It has many underlying messages but most important is to believe in yourself. A good message for anyone.

January 30, 2009: I thought it was really dumb. There were a couple of funny parts, but overall, it was pointless. I wasted at least two hours of my life that I can never get back. The movie was cheesy, annoying, and I don't want to waste any more time talking about it.
