    Editorial Reviews

The puck stops here with this winning DVD collection featuring all three Mighty Ducks movies -- the first cinematic franchise to have an actual pro team named after it (you can't beat Disney synergy). The first film, a do-you-believe-in-miracles crowd-pleaser was one of 1992's Cinderella stories. The sequel, D2: The Mighty Ducks, took a page from the Bad News Bears’ playbook and pitted the misfit hockey team against international opponents in the Junior Goodwill Games. D3: The Mighty Ducks finds the hapless team on thin ice when they receive scholarships to snooty Eden Hall and are challenged to face off against the varsity team. Emilio Estevez is billed as the lead (though he only comes off the bench for brief appearances in D3), but the franchise's most valuable player is Joshua Jackson, who skated on to prime-time fame in Dawson's Creek. As the Ducks' star player Charlie Conway, he learns the inevitable life lessons about perseverance and teamwork by the sound of the final buzzer. Young hockey players can't get enough of these rousing films, but the appealingly diverse casts, knockabout skating slapstick, and come-from-behind drama makes this trilogy a winner for all audiences.
