Editorial Reviews

The cozy villages of Midsomer County reveal their most sinister secrets in these contemporary British television mysteries. Inspired by the novels of Caroline Graham, the modern mistress of the English village mystery, the series stars John Nettles as the unflappable Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby, with John Hopkins as his brash young assistant, Sergeant Dan Scott. This 19-disc collection includes all episodes from sets 1, 2, 3, and 5, in their original U.K. broadcast order, along with an all-new disc of bonus materials. Episodes include: "Death's Shadow"; "Strangler's Wood"; "Blood Will Out"; "Beyond the Grave"; "Dead Man's Eleven"; "Death of a Stranger"; "Blue Herrings"; "Judgement Day"; "Garden of Death"; "Destroying Angel"; "The Electric Vendetta"; "Who Killed Cock Robin?"; "Dark Autumn"; "The Killings at Badger's Drift"; "Written in Blood"; "Death of a Hollow Man"; "Faithful Unto Death"; and "Death in Disguise." May 23, 2009: These episodes are serious, funny, charming, clever, ...I'm running out of adjectives. The characters are believable and unlike some, are fun to be around. You can't wait to hear what Gavin will say next, or how Tom will react. Great fun. I'm up to the 9th set and hungry for more.
