November 06, 2009: Fans of MESSIAH OF EVIL have been hoping for a respectful DVD release for years--it has finally arrived thanks to Code Red. MESSIAH OF EVIL is no glossy modern horror film, where all questions are answered. Rather, it is an arty, nightmarish, Lovecraftian independant film that could only have risen from the 1970's. The film looks great in its Techniscope format and Lee Christian's commentary with the filmmakers is excellent. Avoid all other DVD versions of MESSIAH OF EVIL as a third of the picture is lost due to the shoddy transfer. For fans of early '70's horror, this long overdue DVD is a must have.
