When Pop Brown went to meet his maker at the ripe old age of 107, the 400 dollars he left to his grieving family wasn't even enough to cover the cost of his modest funeral. For the past eleven years, eldest son L.B. and his wife Sarah were the only ones who cared for Pop, but when the funeral funds run short, L.B. and Sarah's daughter, Mi-Lay, quickly arrives on the scene to cover the remainder of the bill. As the rest of the Brown family arrives to bid Pop his final farewell, the best and the worst of the family unit brings joys of laughter and tears to the grieving family. Penned by Diary of a Mad Black Woman scribe Tyler Perry, Meet the Browns contains all of the unique and sometimes touching insight that has made Perry a popular figure of stage and screen. July 12, 2008: As an african-american preacher I know just how hard it is to find good wholesome entertainment. One thing is for sure, Tyler Perry has hit the nail right on the head! ...or should I say, the funny-bone! Not only did I meet the browns, got to treat, creet, and eat the browns. Yummie. ...And let me let me tell you about this Madea character. She is as funny as she is attractive. I tell you, as a man of faith, I would let her kneel at my alter as I drizzle my holy water down her face. God certainly made one fine lady named Madea! The rest of the BROWNS are funny too. You've got wise ol' Brownsworth Brown. Mama Browina Brown. The always drunk yet lovible Uncle 'Sloppy' Brown. And who could forget those adorible Brownies. Yes you might say you've got yourself a handful of hilarious Brown.
