Editorial Reviews

From the dynamic opening credits to the closing shootout, Mannix crackles with excitement, and it's finally available on DVD! Cool, no-nonsense, convertible-driving investigator Joe Mannix (Mike Connors) is a tough-talking loner within the large detective agency Intertect. He has street smarts and class, but he constantly fights with his boss, Lou Wickersham (Joseph Campanella), over how the conduct of investigations. Lou relies on the company’s computers, but Mannix goes with his gut (while often taking one or more to the chin) and solves the case. One of the most popular crime shows of its day, this long-running series was developed by executive producer Bruce Geller (Mission: Impossible). This debut set features all 24 episodes from 1967-68’s Season 1 on six discs, including the rarely seen series pilot. Brace yourself for unbeatable action -- Joe Mannix is back! From the Studio

March 20, 2009: Watching Mannix again is liking going home. As a teenager my mother and I never missed a week (if we could help it) and enjoyed the summer reruns. Mannix was independent, strong, and always getting beat down. But in the end justice was done.

July 05, 2008: MANNIX was a favorite of mine as a kid, and the show holds up surprisingly well after four decades. Hardboiled mysteries with perculiar twists and plenty of action. Mannix must have had a deal with the local hospital -- every tenth brainscan must have been free -- since he's always getting knocked unconscious. The pilot episode, "The Name Is Mannix," is worth the price of admission alone.
