Editorial Reviews

One of the great artists of the opera world, Luciano Pavarotti deserves the care that only the BBC can devote to an artistic documentary. Pavarotti's larger-than-life persona and remarkable career are examined by way of telling comments from friends and colleagues including Plácido Domingo, Joan Sutherland, Juan Diego Flórez, Renata Scotto, José Carreras, and Montserrat Caballé. Superb archival performance footage features arias from La Bohème, La Fille du Régiment, L’Elisir d’Amore, Rigoletto, Tosca, Turandot, Panis Angelicus, and Ingemisco. Also included are rare performance clips from the Metropolitan Opera and other noted opera houses. (This engrossing film was shown on PBS in the fall of 2008.) Barnes & Noble
