Editorial Reviews

After Season 2's interrupted storylines (due to repeats) drew criticism, Lost's producers in Season 3 tried breaking up the season into two uninterrupted halves. The first part of Season 3 aired in a 9 P.M.-Wednesday slot, Oct. 4-Nov. 8, 2006. After a hiatus, the show returned for its second half, in the 10 P.M. Friday slot, on Feb. 7, 2007, and ran through May 23. Unfortunately the gamble failed, and the series had lost nearly 3 million viewers when the second half of the season premiered. Despite its difficulties, Lost remains engaging television, and certainly benefits from the DVD experience. Season 3 finds the castaways Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) captives of The Others; Jack (Matthew Fox) is held captive separately and interrogated by the Others' leader Ben Linus (Michael Emerson); Locke (Terry O'Quinn) questions his loyalties between the castaways and the Others, Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) finds a new purpose for himself on the island; the mysterious leader of the Others is introduced; and by the season finale, viewers will be clamoring for the remote in order to watch it again after a great "What just happened?" moment. Extras include five featurettes, deleted scenes, bloopers, audio commentaries, and more. Christina Urban, Barnes & Noble

An Excellent Season for an Excellent Seriesby Sir_Elton_Butcher

September 26, 2009: LOST has been one of the most refreshing TV series in many a year. The flash-back (and later flash-forward) format keeps the viewer on his toes and actually makes them have to stop an think. A television series that makes the audience think? What a novel concept!! The acting is so good that first you believe these characters, and then you feel you KNOW them. I'm a fan, and will be to the end.
