    Editorial Reviews

Set in the 17th century against the turbulent backdrop of England's lawless West Country, Lorna Doone is an action-packed tale of romance, revenge, and clan warfare based on R.D. Blackmore's sweeping novel of love and crime. One of fiction's most respected works, now turned into a fantastic A&E/BBC co-production, the story follows three young people caught in an emotional triangle -- Carver Doone (Queer as Folk's Aidan Gillen), the murderous member of a family of aristocratic outlaws; John Ridd (Topsy-Turvy's Richard Coyle), a young farmer dedicated to avenging his father's death; and Lorna Doone (Amelia Warner of Quills), the dark-eyed beauty for whom both men would willingly die. At once independent and vulnerable, Lorna is the Doone "princess," condemned by the family to marry Carver. But Lorna may not be quite what she seems. Director Mike Barker (Best Laid Plans) adds a light but memorable touch to the lavish costume drama. Chas Turner, Barnes & Noble

July 02, 2007: Several actors you will recognize, a special surprise. Movie is well made and all the actors do a wonderful job. The very beginning is questionable, but ends up being highly enjoyable. Couple of great twists that keep you interested and best of all, a happy ending.
