Editorial Reviews

More kid-friendly than the essential four-disc Golden Collection, this no-frills two-disc set contains 28 Warner Bros. cartoons from the studio's 1940s and '50s heyday. The archival extras and animated masterworks are missing in action, but all the major beloved characters in the Warner stable are represented. "Elmer's Candid Camera" and "The Daffy Duck Hunt" offer rare, early looks at Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. "Fast and Furry-ous" and "For Scent-mental Reasons" represent classic Road Runner and Pepe Le Pew ‘toons. In addition to Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Tweety, and the Tasmanian Devil, you also get such lesser-known stars as the Goofy Gophers and the rodent duo Hubie and Bertie. Almost worth the price of the set is the Chuck Jones gem "Feed the Kitty," a surprisingly sweet cartoon about a bulldog's unexpected friendship with an adorable pussycat. November 08, 2003: I bought this version, unaware that there was a gold version available and was very disappointed. While the tracks are good, it does nothing more the get you thinking about all the tracks that were missed.
