Full Product DetailsYou've got to hand it to the Ingallses: There isn't a hard heart they can't melt, a misfit they won't assimilate into the community, or a karmic obstacle they fail to overcome. In Season 2 of this beloved series based on the cherished Laura Ingalls Wilder books, Charles Ingalls (Michael Landon), his steadfast wife, Caroline (Karen Graddle), and daughters Laura (Melissa Gilbert), Mary (Melissa Sue Anderson), and Carrie (Lindsay Sidney Green Bush) reaffirm their commitment to each other and the community of Walnut Grove. Landon wrote and directed the opening and closing episodes, which are representative of this series' enduring appeal. "The Richest Man in Town" and "Going Home" extol the virtues of hard work, faith, and family ties, as Charles must work extra jobs to pay off his debts and considers returning to Wisconsin after a tornado wreaks havoc on his home and destroys his crops. Other notable episodes include the two-part tear-jerker, "Remember Me," in which Charles pledges to find a home for three orphaned children; the devastating "Soldier's Return," with guest star Richard Mulligan as a psyche-scarred Civil War veteran addicted to morphine; and "Ebenezer Sprague," in which Laura unwittingly befriends the town's new and unfriendly banker. "The Big Inning" is a rare comic outing in which Walnut Grove rallies to avenge a previous 36-0 loss to the Sleepy Eye Green Stockings baseball team. And it's always fun to watch despicable brat Nellie Oleson (Alison Arngrim) get her comeuppance in episode after episode -- especially "The Richest Man in Town," wherein Laura delivers a well-deserved sock to Nellie's nose.
