Editorial Reviews

George Lucas produced and Jim Henson directed this gothic fantasy which pits living and breathing actors Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie (who, along with Trevor Jones, provides the film's music) against a motley collection of Muppet monsters. The film centers upon teenage Sarah (Connelly), who lives in a fantasy world of myth and magic, evil spells, and wondrous enchantment. She is baby-sitting her little brother when she cavalierly wishes that goblins would take him away. She gets her wish, and a coterie of goblins abduct him. She then encounters Jareth (David Bowie), the ruler of a mystical world one step removed from reality. He tells Sarah that the only way to get her brother back is to find her way through a M.C. Escher-like labyrinth and find the castle at the center. As she makes her way through the maze, she faces a number of horrific challenges (like the Bog of Eternal Stench) before she finds her way to the gravity-defying castle, where her brother is being held by the evil goblins. October 14, 2008: I was totally captivated by this fantasy & never tired from watching it again and again. Jim Henson's a brilliant artist and redefined entertainment for kids and adults - his imagination and storytelling blend a totally original style of playfulness, darkness and humor which had me hooked.

September 09, 2008: For my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom is as great. Sarah: Damn I could never remember that line. Then she looks at Jareth and says &quot You have no power over me.&quot Who doesn't remember this movie when they were young and not get tired of it? I remember my brother and I watched this a lot when we were younger and then forgot about it years later. I then saw a vid on youtube and thanks to that it got me interested in seeing the film again. My bro and I watched it again and notice some stuff like of how in the beginning you clearly see the books and toys that Sarah have with the creatures that later appear in the Labyrinth to the face of Bowie on 3 seperate pieces of a rock thing where Hoggle is given the peach by Jareth. Something always bugged me when I was watching a scene particulary the ball room scene. Did anyone noticed one of the dancers (besides Jareth) who wore a long hat and long nose type mask was always following/stalking Sarah? Moving on, this is the story of a girl who learns i guess grow up while trying to get back her baby brother after wishing him away and makes friends along the way. Hoggle had good character development from a cheat to a coward to a brave and loyal friend. Ludo is adorable and Sir Didymus was awesome. Jareth what more to say he's freaking awesome good or bad (prefer bad LOL). Sarah seemed a little childish and bratty but still you got to admit that dress was pretty. Jareth was cocky, sexy and yet in pain like he longed for something more...I wasn't sure why many believe that Jareth loved Sarah. It seemed like he was just distracting her so she could forget about Toby but hey us fans can dream can't we? The songs were good especially Underground and Within You. Fave scenes has to be any scene with Jareth (especially the ballroom and escher staircase scene). I always wondered what would happen after Sarah returns to her world and am happy to tell ya that there is a sequel (its a manga actually). Movies like Labyrinth are to bring out our imagination and this does just that. Watch Labyrinth with your kids or friends or family, its still a classic and will never be old.
