Editorial Reviews

Adapted from the six-issue comic book series originally published in 2004, the animated adventure Justice League: The New Frontier follows the epic adventures of Superman and his fellow DC Comics superheroes from the end of World War II to the global tensions of the Cold War. In addition to detailing the ultimate fate of DC war comic squadron The Losers and showing how reluctant fighter pilot Hal Jordan made the stunning transformation into The Green Lantern, the film also follows Superman and Wonder Woman as they struggle with their involvement on the East Asia battle arena, finds the Martian Manhunter arriving on planet Earth, and showcases John Henry's valiant struggle against the evil Ku Klux Klan. October 15, 2008: This DVD is based on the Justice League of the 1950?s. Here you can see the classic look of Wonder Women,Superman,Batman,The Flash and the origin of Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern and the Martin Manhunter. The villain of this movie is the center and although the movie is not like the Justice League television series, the movie is a great thow back to a classic way of story telling and animation. This movie is a must for any fan of the justice League but I do not recommend that children under the age of 12 watch the movie. The scenes might be a little graphic for young viewers.

I Also Recommend: Justice League Unlimited - Season 1, Justice League: Seasons One and Season Two, The Batman - Season 5.

March 04, 2008: This is based on a comic series of the same name, which is a telling of the origin of the hero team Justice League of America, with Superman, Wonderwoman, Batman, Flash, and many other classic heroes. The main focus is on Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern. Largely it looks at his life before he gets the ring, set around the time of JFK. The enemy is a take on the old 'Dinosaur Island' which appeared in comics back in the day. The film is a little choppy and frantically paced due to it's limited running time. But it's full of good drama and mystery. As the film starts Batman and the Flash are on the run from the government, caught in the hysteria of the cold war. Hal Jordan "Green Lantern" is a fighter pilot in Korea. Superman is working for the government despite his friendship with Batman. As the all-powerful threat bears down on the US coast, they are able to all work together in the spirit of cooperation. This gives birth to the JLA at the end, and ties into the beginning of the old JLA comics. Highly recommended. This movie has disturbing images and violence, be cautious about showing it to young kids!
