Editorial Reviews

Robert Louis Stevenson's influential tale of terror gets a modern re-imagining in this limited BBC series penned by Steven Moffat (Dr. Who, Coupling) and starring James Nesbitt. The year is 2007, and Dr. Tom Jackson (Nesbitt) just can't seem to reign in his murderous alter ego Mr. Hyde. While the two dueling personalities have stricken up a tenuous agreement to share the same body, the good doctor vows to use every technology at his disposal in order to contain the killer within. By using surveillance equipment and making a veritable deal with his own Devil, Dr. Jackman is certain that he can keep Mr. Hyde in check. But somewhere out there, Dr. Jackman and Mr. Hyde's every move is being monitored by an organization whose limitless wealth is only exceeded by their vast power. It seems that Mr. Hyde is no mistake of science and, much to Mr. Jackman's surprise, a plan hatched over a century ago is finally starting to unfold just like clockwork. October 04, 2009: James Nesbit plays the duel roles of a modern Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in this 2006 re-teling of the classic tale. The mini-series created by Steven Moffett of Doctor Who fame is the tale of scientist named Jackman who suddenly finds himself changing into someone else; a socio-pathic personality with increadble abilities.

There is none of the cheesy make-up or CGI monsters that are the halmarks of Jekyll and Hyde movies. Instead you have a true psycological thriller on par with the original Basic Instinct and Identity with a twist at the end that leaves you wanting more. Nesbit delivers as both the torrminted Jackman and as the psychotic Hyde. A must see for any horror film fan or thiller/ mystery fan.

April 13, 2009: This is a quirky take on the Jekyll & Hyde story set in the modern UK. There are a number of engaging twists in the story. James Nesbitt is a perfect casting choice. This is dark stuff and probably not suitable for kids under 12. It is an interesting voyage by the creaters of Dr. Who. I would really like to see more of this story.
