Jefferson Airplane made a name for themselves as one of the very best psychedelic bands of the hippie scene in the late' 60s. This release collects performances by the band at a variety of television appearances as well as in concert. The film includes a version of "White Rabbit," from The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, a rendition of "Somebody to Love," from their historic appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival, and a performance of "Embryonic Journey," at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide All Movie Guide

November 28, 2004: Incredible DVD! Man those were the years, and I never missed a Jefferson Airplane concert! The Airplane was THE ultimate ?flower power? Band, and all extremely talented musicians, and really cool cats. It was great watching Grace Slick and her good friend Janis Joplin grow and blossom in the music business during the 60?s, and they each did it their own way. Thank goodness this DVD came out, because the Airplane was truly a live concert - visual band, not a studio band, and this DVD really delivers the experience! Thanks Grace, Marty, Paul, Jorma, Spencer, the coolest bass player on the Planet, Jack Casady, and ALL, for the great years, the great music, and your massive contributions.

October 06, 2004: This is a good start on the many filmed & televised appearances of Jefferson Airplane, and it is a good sampling of them but not enough. While there are exerpts of the PBS specials "A Night at Family Dog" & "Go Ride the Music," there are many songs from those not included. Missing also are any of the Tonight Show appearances and noticibly absent is the post-Woodstock appearance on Dick Cavett when he held up taping of the show for hours while arguing with network censors who were ready to bleep lyrics. But what is here is precious, including two Smother's Brothers appearances, promotional films and the first ever release of the famous 1968 New York rooftop performance filmed by Goddard and Pennbaker for the film "One A.M." If you are a fan, get it. If you want to know why this band was THE premier American underground band of the sixties, who set and measured the tone of the decade, get it.
