Editorial Reviews

Former pinku eiga director Hiroki Ryuichi spins this farcical tale, adapted from an autobiographical novel by Kihachi Dan, about a hack writer's desperate attempts to overcome writers block . Kurosaki (Ren Osugi) used to dream about dedicating his life to Art, but has since dedicated his life to crass commercialism by cranking out S&M porno for a low rent publisher. Feeling that this creative well has run dry, he realizes that he needs some real time experience to get his writing to flow once again. He turns to his eager-to-please assistant Kawada (Jun Murakami) who hires a nubile lass named Kyoko (Eri Yamazaki) to strike bound poses in the writer's living room. Meanwhile, Kurosaki's wife Shizuko (Yoko Hoshi) has surprisingly taken a dim view of this practice, and out of revenge seduces a hunky American English teacher (William Brian Churchill) -- and then, as if to add insult to injury, she seduces Kawada. This film was screened at the 2000 Vancouver International Film Festival. Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide
