The BBC's Hustle -- created by the same team that's behind the Beeb's 24-styled espionage hit, MI-5 -- began its second series in 2005 with one of the team's most outrageous cons ever. Mickey (Adrian Lester), Danny (Marc Warren), Albert (Robert Vaughn), Ash (Robert Glenister), and Stacie (Jaime Murray) are going to sell a gold mine, in London, to an unscrupulous real-estate developer. This evolving scheme paces the second series (airing in the U.S. on cable's AMC), which is rich in amazing scams designed to dupe unsuspecting (but generally corrupt) individuals. Fake paternity is featured in "Confessions"; forged banknotes and rare comic books are the focus in the episodes "The Lesson" and "Missions"; "Old Acquaintance" is built around a fixed poker game. Finally, the crime of the century is on tap in "Eye of the Beholder," as the team plans to steal the Star of Africa, the largest diamond in the world and a prominent component of England's Crown Jewels. But the scheme appears to go awry as the cops close in, bringing Series 2 to a cliffhanging close. Barnes & Noble
