Hunter, the third network TV series to bear this title, ran from 1984 through 1992. Ex-footballer Fred Dryer was starred as Detective Sgt. Rick Hunter, with Stepfanie Kramer costarring as Sgt. Dee Dee McCall. The 2-hour pilot for Hunter was unveiled on Tuesday, September 18, 1984; the series itself would settle during its first season in a Friday slot. In the opener, Hunter tries to capture a brutal serial killer by using Dee Dee as bait. Michael Cavanaugh, who plays Captain Lester Cain in the pilot, was eventually replaced in the series itself by Arthur Rosenberg. Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
