    Editorial Reviews

Home Alone is the highly successful and beloved family comedy about a young boy named Kevin (Macauley Culkin) who is accidentally left behind when his family takes off for a vacation in France over the holiday season. Once he realizes they've left him "home alone," he learns to fend for himself and, eventually has to protect his house against two bumbling burglars (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) who are planning to rob every house in Kevin's suburban Chicago neighborhood. Though the film's slapstick ending may be somewhat violent, Culkin's charming presence helped the film become one of the most successful ever at the time of its release. December 10, 2006: When you see this movie, it kind of makes you want to be Kevin. A great movie with family love. So upset there's not a book.

November 29, 2006: I saw "Home Alone" when it first came out in 1990,and just watched it again on this new DVD.It hasn't dated one bit.The movie is as fresh, funny, and appealing as ever.Seeing it again made me remember that it's also very touching as well, especially in the church scene with Kevin and Mr.Marley.The cast is wonderful.Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are a hoot.Catherine O'Hara and John Heard are delightful. And it's easy to see why the film made Macaulay Culkin a star-what a talented cutie he was!John Hughes' script is hilarious and sometimes quite moving.Chris Columbus's direction is perfect, and he shows a particular talent for getting the best from his actors. The movie looks and sounds better than ever(Fox did a brilliant job with the transfer).John Williams wraps it all up in one of his loveliest and most memorable scores. The main theme,"Somewhere In My Memory",is one of his most beautiful melodies."Home Alone"is a holiday comedy classic.Sit back and enjoy!
