Editorial Reviews

Macaulay Culkin lookalike (and soundalike) Mike Weinberg steps into the role of resourceful youngster Kevin McAllister in this made-for-TV sequel to the immensely popular theatrical Home Alone trilogy. On this occasion, young Kevin finds himself stranded in the computerized "safe house" owned by Natalie (Joanna Going), the predatory new girlfriend of Kevin's recently divorced dad Peter (Jason Beghe). Combining the technology of the house with his own improvisational brilliance, Kevin endeavors to save a royal heir from a trio of kidnappers, one of whom is the boy's old burglar nemesis Marv Merchants (French Stewart, replacing the first two films' Daniel Stern). Needless to say, Kevin also finds time to befriend an adult "outcast" and to bring his parents back together. Home Alone 4 originally aired November 3, 2002, as an episode of the ABC anthology The Wonderful World of Disney. Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

July 10, 2005: When I watch the first two Home Alone movies, I have the feeling of fun and excitement. When I see Home Alone 3, I have a pang of flashback because while it certainly is no great film, it does follow suit with the previous films. Now, some idiot director, producers and writers think they have some fun by totally ruining the first two Home Alone films. Kevin McAllister has brown hair and is YOUNGER!!! He's also played by some little coniptuous brat. Every time see him or hear his voice, I really want to break his neck ('cause frankly he deserves it!). I think it was terrible for the writers to decide to have Kevin's parents divorce and for his dad to start dating some floozie! Marv is back, but where's Harry??? French Stewart is TERRIBLE as Marv Merchants (he didn't even bother to grow a beard for the role!). The plot is terrible, the writing is terrible, the acting is terrible, the production is terrible...this film is so bad it makes Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band look like Gone With The Wind. Home Alone 4 does not belong in the discount bin - it belongs in the garbage bin!
