Editorial Reviews

On the twentieth anniversary of the cult sci-fi hit Highlander, the legend is reborn in a new trilogy that follows Immortal Highlander Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) on his journey to discover the origin of the first Immortal and unlock the secret source of eternal life. As the world crumbles to chaos and the city falls down all around him, MacLeod's memories drift back to the time he spent with his one true love. Later, when MacLeod comes into contact with a close-knit band of Immortals that include the mysterious Methos and mortal Watcher Joe Dawson, the group sets out on a mission to uncover the secret that has eluded his people for centuries. May 03, 2008: I'm a huge fan of the genre, and the Highlander series has always been pretty good, but seriously, this was... I'm not sure how it even got from the studio to shelves. The acting was sub-par, and the plot was terrible. The ending was even worse than the plot. Maybe. The plot was pretty bad. It was just flat. You'd think after seasons of material, this movie would not be quite so lifeless, but seriously. It was just kind of disappointing.

January 24, 2008: As a huge fan of both the Highlander TV series and Adrian Paul (not to mention Peter Wingfield et al), I was looking forward to this movie for years. And while it had a couple of genuinely good moments, it felt disjointed and rushed, even as it played way too fast and loose with the Highlander mythos. It felt more like a second-rate science fiction film trying to adapt some Highlander characteristics than an actual Highlander film, and that is inexcusable.
