Editorial Reviews

The fourth season of The WB's gabby drama is a weird, difficult one for Rory and Lorelai Gilmore (Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham): Rory heads off for her freshman year at Yale, and Lorelai finally realizes her dream of opening her own inn with her best friend, Sookie (Melissa McCarthy), running the kitchen. But with the mother-daughter team now separated geographically, there are lots of cell phone conversations and convoluted reasons for Rory to take weekend trips home to Stars Hollow. Then there is Digger Stiles (Chris Eigeman), the son of an ex-business partner of Lorelai's father, Richard (Edward Herrmann), who gets invited to work for the elder Gilmore and then secretly becomes Lorelei's boyfriend. Renovations on the Dragonfly Inn, meanwhile, are going slowly and costing a lot more than Lorelei and Sookie expected. Things aren't going any more smoothly for Rory, either: Her Chilton rival, Paris (Liza Weil), has pulled strings to get into Yale and, as an added twist, into Rory's her dorm room, and classes are harder than expected; perfect first boyfriend Dean (Jared Padalecki) drops the bomb that he's getting married; and troubled Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) returns to complicate matters further. In other Stars Hollow news, diner owner Luke (Scott Patterson) has a surprise announcement, over-employed Kirk (Sean Gunn) gets a girlfriend, and Lane (Keiko Agena) moves out of her mom's house and in with the band. If the enjoyable fourth season of Gilmore Girls sometimes seems adrift, it's all part of creator Amy Sherman-Palladino's plan to get the characters into position for the final three knockout episodes -- which contain all the hilarity, heartbreak, and rapid-fire dialogue we've come to expect from network TV’s best-written show. The whirlwind of events include a wedding, a separation, a major lapse in judgment on Rory's part, and a kiss fans have been waiting for since the show began. Bill Pearis, Barnes & Noble

November 17, 2006: This, by far is the greatest season of Gilmore Girls yet. With the witty/fast dialougue and the outstanding cast I don't know how anyone can live without the Gilmore Girls in their life! My favorite Episode, not only in this season, but in the show altogether would have to be "The Nanny and the Professor" I just love Michel's super low-cut jeans! LOL! Oe thing I particularly love is the Lorelai/Jason relashonship. They just look so right together...I love it! He is so much better for her than Max Medina!! I did not liike him at all! He moved too quick for her, they'd been dating less than a year, and he proposed!!! But i'm getting off-subject here... So let us move onto the subject of...Luke! I don't see how you can't like Luke, his smile just makes Lorelai melt! And if you noticed in past seasons the way Luke looks when he sees Lorelai with another man, he just looks so hurt, and vice versa. Well, I could write so much more about this xtrordinary show, but I don't have time, maybe later!

October 23, 2005: It's hard to be a man and admit that I love this show. My fiance got me hooked on this show one night and I have to agree with a lot of what other people have said including the reviewer that this is one of the best scripted shows on TV. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the writer's room when they are crafting an episode together. As for Shannon, my fiance, I'm thinking we should name our first daughter Lorelei...
