Editorial Reviews

A stellar cast of venerable character actors lends a touch of class to this 1975 Walt Disney live-action fantasy adventure about orphaned siblings Tony and Tia, who possess strange psychic and telekinetic gifts that they do not fully understand. Are they, in the words of a bullying classmate, "a couple of weirdos," or are their wondrous powers literally out of this world? Ray Milland stars as Bolt, a ruthless millionaire who wants to greedily harness their "sixth-sense incidents," Eddie Albert costars as the "impatient, selfish" curmudgeon in whose mobile home the young runaways escape from Bolt. What begins as intriguingly eerie descends in the last reel to supernatural slapstick, as Tony and Tia conjure up nonviolent ways to thwart their foolish adult pursuers, from mind-melding with a bear to flipping a helicopter. With its nifty stop-motion special effects, this is true escapist entertainment. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble

July 19, 2006: Escape to Witch Mountain is one of my favorite Disney movies! I first saw it in a movie theater when I was around 9 or 10 years old and I have very fond memories of this cute, charming movie! When I found out that this movie was on DVD I bought it and I really had a good time watching it again! Kim Richards, Ike Eisenmann and Eddie Albert are all still wonderful and I recommend this movie!
