    Editorial Reviews

The third installment of Doctor Who is full of new thrills, new laughs, new heartbreak, and some terrifying new monsters. From the moment the Doctor (David Tennant) walks into the life of medical student Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), he changes it forever. In Elizabethan London, they meet William Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre; back in present-day London, 76-year-old Professor Lazarus recaptures his youth, with consequences that threaten Martha's entire family. And the Doctor's sworn enemies, the Daleks -- who have been hiding in 1930s New York -- return with a terrifying plan for humanity. The third series of Doctor Who aired in the U.K. from March through June 2007, airing on both the Sci-Fi Channel and BBC America in the U.S. From the Studio

December 01, 2008: I really enjoyed the Season 3 of Doctor Who. I especially enjoyed the season finale with John Barrowman from Torchwood. Each season of Doctor Who is unique and considering that this is an ongoing series, the storylines are fresh and fast-paced and the actors are superb!! Martha was a good companion to fill in after Rose who still remains my favorite.

July 30, 2008: For season 3 we were introduced to a new companion, Martha Jones, and while I enjoyed her performances very much, the writing for her as another girl infatuated with the doctor felt a little trite. After having watched these three seasons now, I feel there is a trend for these seasons to have good and bad episodes. This season did feature some excellent episodes, Blink, 42, Gridlocked, were among my favorites and the family of blood two-parter really showed Tennant's acting chops. The daleks in Manhatten two parter was one of the worst I have ever experienced, terrible cliched characters, a premise that could have been good, but was ruined by a bad writing and lots of filler (should have been one episode). Even the reintroduction of the master felt too over the top to be taken seriously. All in all this is definetly worth watching if you are a lover of sci-fi, just don't take it too seriously, it's meant to be light-hearted and fun.
