Editorial Reviews

The Dick Van Dyke Show changed not a smidgen between Seasons 1 and 2, as series creator and occasional guest star Carl Reiner continued as head writer. Some 31 episodes aired between September 26, 1962, and the second-season finale on May 26, 1963; and each of them is included in this set. The episode titles are:

  • "Never Name a Duck"
  • "The Two Faces of Rob"
  • "The Attempted Marriage"
  • "Bank Book 6565696"
  • "Hustling the Hustler"
  • "My Husband Is Not a Drunk"
  • "What's in a Middle Name?"
  • "Like a Sister" -- Vic Damone guest-stars.
  • "The Night the Roof Fell In"
  • "The Secret Life of Buddy and Sally"
  • "A Bird in the Head Hurts"
  • "Gesundheit, Darling"
  • "A Man's Teeth Are Not His Own"
  • "Somebody Has to Play Cleopatra" -- Bob Crane guest-stars.
  • "The Cat Burglar"
  • "The Foul-Weather Girl"
  • "Will You Two Be My Wife?"
  • "Ray Murdock's X-Ray"
  • "I Was a Teenage Head Writer"
  • "It May Look Like a Walnut!" -- Danny Thomas guest-stars.
  • "My Husband Is a Check-Grabber"
  • "Don't Trip Over That Mountain"
  • "Give Me Your Walls!"
  • "The Sam Pomerantz Scandals"
  • "The Square Triangle"
  • "I'm No Henry Walden!" -- Carl Reiner guest-stars, although not as Alan Brady: he portrays Yale Sampson, an English philosopher.
  • "Racy Tracy Rattigan" -- Richard Dawson guest-stars as a lecherous fill-in for Alan.
  • "Divorce"
  • "It's a Shame She Married Me" -- Robert Vaughn guest-stars as Laura's debonair old flame.
  • "A Surprise Surprise Is a Surprise"
  • "Jilting the Jilter"

Dick Van Dyke Show: Season 2by Anonymous

January 10, 2004: I just receieved Season 2 yesterday. The picture and sound quality are outstanding. I have almost all of the episodes on VHS, but there is no comparison. There are also no commercials with the exception of a few spots members of the cast did, including advertising the sponsor's product. The episodes are on the DVD in original length (nothing cut out). There is also wonderful commentary and a guest spot Dick, Mary, Rose Marie, and Morey did on a game show called 'Stump the Stars'. Extremely entertaining. I cannot wait for Season 3 to come out next month.
