April 05, 2005: It's about time we saw BLACK love portrayed with such charm and compassion AND with such beautiful BLACK actors on the big screen! Thumbs up to Tyler Perry and the casting crew - a beautiful blend of great story telling and great acting. The story was very much like the stage play (but I like the ending of the movie better!) Madea was in rare form, but if you can understand the difference in stage acting and acting in front of the camera, you will find a great appreciation for both mediums - the stage play AND the movie. I hope Hollywood has taken note that Black Writers and Black Actors can contribute more in this arena than just movies of crime!

April 01, 2005: If you need uplifting inspiration, this movie is it. The movie critics panned the movie but it was obvious they had no concept of black families or having a grandmother like in the movie. The music is inspiring too and the whole movie reminds us to look to God and he will help us heal and go on. Great movie.
