Editorial Reviews

Much more family friendly than the John Hughes-scripted 1993 film that descended into Home Alone-style slapstick, this direct-to-video sequel recaptures some of the more innocent mischievous spirit of Hank Ketchum's classic comic strip (and the 1960s TV series). Justin Cooper stars as suspender-clad Dennis, who continues to (unintentionally, we think) torment his long-suffering neighbor, Mr. Wilson (Don Rickles). When Dennis's young-at-heart grandfather (George Kennedy) comes to live with the family, the battle lines between the men are drawn. Meanwhile, two con men (Brian Doyle-Murray and annoying prop comic Carrot Top) scheme to bilk Mr. Wilson out of his savings. Viewer's advisory: Some viewers may find the scenes of Rickles and Kennedy in swimsuits disturbing, but their dance-off to "Play That Funky Music" ranks as a one-of-a-kind. Look for future Spy Kid Alexa Vega as a tomboy who rivals poor Margaret for Dennis's affections. Donald Liebenson, Barnes & Noble
