Experience the next phase in animated horror as the disturbing first chapters of the EA game Dead Space open up to reveal a cosmic terror that is truly out of this world. An ancient religious relic has been unearthed during a deep space mining mission to a remote planet. Some believe that the artifact provides irrefutable proof that God truly exists, but if there is a Heaven, there must also be a Hell. When the relic is taken aboard the ship, it unleashes a long-dormant alien race powerful enough to destroy all of mankind. One by one, the crew is being taken over by an alien force hell bent on devouring the entire human race. Can they be defeated before the ship returns to Earth, or has the ultimate Apocalypse finally been set into motion? Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

November 05, 2008: I loved the game Dead Space.

I did not love this movie.

A: The animation sucks. It's not anime, but it seems as though it's trying to be. It fails.

B: The plot is superfluous. You find all this out while playing the game if you pay attention.

C: The voice acting is mediocre at best. It might've been better if it wasn't for the fact that...

D: The characters suck. They are cliche piled atop cliche. I just wanted everyone to die.

I wasn't expecting anything mindblowing. But I was expecting to at least be somewhat entertained.

I was left checking my watch and regretting my purchase.

    Boring, unoriginal, pointless.

Play the game. Avoid the movie.

Maybe the graphic novel will prove a better effort...

November 03, 2008: This is a prequel to the game that explains what happened to the crew. It explains how the creatures came to be on the ship. The movie is worth watching if you are or are going to play the game. The voices and the sound are done well. The scenery fits in with the darkness of the game and the animation of the creatures is awesome. The only real down side to the movie is the animation of the human characters which seems split between american and japanese animation. Over all there is plenty of action, blood and guts to entertain any anime fan.
