Editorial Reviews

The indestructible hopped-up hitman Chev Chelios, played to the hilt once again by Jason Statham, returns in Crank High Voltage, picking up where the first film left off -- except this time, Chelios is chasing a Chinese gangster who hijacked his heart and substituted it with a mechanical one that needs to be jolted with an electric charge to stay pumping. Back for the fun is Chev's girlfriend Eve ({Amy Smart) and his physician Doc Miles (Dwight Yoakam), who, as luck has it, turns out to be an ex-heart surgeon. As Chelios delves deeper into the mystery surrounding his stolen heart, he discovers that the answers to his questions lie within the chest of a 100-year old head of the Triad gang, Poon Dong (David Carradine. The maverick directing/writing team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor returns to inject more caffeinated craziness into Lionsgate's burgeoning action series, with Efren Ramirez, Bai Ling, Clifton Collins Jr., and Corey Haim rounding out the supporting cast. One Heck Of A Wild And Funny Ride!by Heavy_Metal_Sushi

August 30, 2009: Okay, so some of this movie is pretty hokey, especially some stuff near the end, and basically the whole premis of the movie, what with the fake heart and everything, but all in all though, this movie is a pretty entertaining ride. I actually saw this one with my dad in the theatre, and I must confess...I was a little uneasy watching it with him too. He never said too awful much, but I could see that he was a little indifferent about it. He's a bit more conservative than I am. Basically, take the language, nudity/sex, gore, and drug use that was in the first one and amplify it by several times, and you've got the new Crank movie. None of that type of stuff really bothers me too much, but I don't think that my dad was really expecting it, after having seen the first one, and neither was I for that matter, and so through part of the movie, I was thinking to myself 'Oh my God, my dad is going to get up and walk out.' Surprisingly though, he didn't, and he actually didn't say too much afterward, but I could tell that was the first and last time that he would watch that movie. LoL. That being said though, I myself thought it was pretty amusing. Being an fan of crazy action and everything, I was very entertained. If you're a fan of crazy action and plots that are somewhat absurd, I would recommend this movie.

This review was written about the DVD Wide Screen / Pan & Scan edition.

I Also Recommend: Transporter Box Set, Die Hard: the Ulitmate Collection, Death Race, Crank, Lethal Weapon: The Complete Series.
