    Editorial Reviews

Claudine (Diahann Carroll) is an impoverished African-American Harlem resident. Unmarried, Claudine supports herself and her six children by working as a maid--albeit secretly, so she can still qualify for welfare. Garbageman James Earl Jones falls in love with Claudine, and after strenuous effort manages to win the affections of her suspicious kids. Just when it seems as though there's a marriage in the offing, Jones runs off. Claudine's kids hunt him down and shame him into returning to their mother. Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

March 22, 2008: This movive is wonderful, it's a keeper of generations to come. The only thing is missing is the soundtrack,by itself. The public wants it. Can one of the major music companies, obtain the rights to produce it. That would make a lot of mayfeild fans happy. I'm a collector of good music, such as temptations, sam cooke, the impressions, along with other artists of that era. That was music, I grew up listening to.I want to share this with my children and grandchildren. This is something good to pass along. I know other viewers of the site would agree.

December 08, 2006: I grew up on this movie. I enjoy it everytime it airs on TV and I have the DVD. I am searching for the soundtrack on CD. I have it on Album and that is most likely the only way I will ever have it.
