After ending her career-making role as Rebecca Thatcher on Life Goes On in 1993, Kellie Martin embarked on a new series in 1994 called Christy. Based on a novel of the same name by Catherine Marshall, the short-lived drama featured Martin as Christy Huddleston, a new teacher who arrives in the close-knit Appalachian mountain community of Cutter Gap, Tennessee, circa 1912. Christy faces challenges getting the old-fashioned townsfolk to trust her, including Tyne Daly as Quaker woman Alice Henderson; Randall Batinkoff as the Rev. David Grantland; and Stewart Finlay-McLennan as Dr. Neil MacNeill. Despite the show's popularity with families, Christy never drew a choice timeslot on the CBS schedule, appearing mainly as a summer replacement series during its 19-episode, 16-month run. All of those episodes -- which include the two-hour pilot and the two-part Thanksgiving-themed "The Sweetest Gift" -- are gathered together here this day in a four-disc set. November 26, 2008: I've never seen it before nor have I read the book. So when I seen it for the first time I was addicted to it I wanted to see what would happen next, then I got to the end where she is choosing between the rev. and the doc. sorry forgot their names but if you seen it before you know who I'm taking about anyways though It ended with her still needing to pick who she wants to be with, VERY Disappointing ended I thought. Otherwise though it was good. Hope to find the rest somewhere.

I Also Recommend: Love's Long Journey, Love's Abiding Joy, Love Comes Softly - Series 1.

January 21, 2008: Like the first reviewer, I have been waiting a long time for this series to come to DVD and have deeply enjoyed all that it contains, but am SO disappointed that it is not "complete", as is promised on the package. I've read the book, I know how the story ends, and this "complete" series doesn't end...it leaves one hanging miserably, knowing the end of the story is not included in this series. I know there is another version of the story on video, but it is lacking in many ways. Is there another disc, perhaps missing from the package by mistake? I hope so!
