A derivative rehashing of its predecessor (which itself owes a heavy debt to Trilogy of Terror), this sequel details the plight of young Andy (Alex Vincent), who in the previous film narrowly escaped losing his soul to make room for devil-doll Chucky (voice of Brad Dourif). Possessed by the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray, Chucky had coveted Andy's body as a replacement for his own plastic shell... which ended up beaten and burned beyond recognition. At this film's outset, Andy's mom has suffered a nervous breakdown as a result of the prior human-vs.-doll battle, and Andy has been taken to a foster home. In the meantime, the makers of Good Guys dolls decide to reconstruct the scrappy little toy, hoping to prove the doll's harmlessness and sway public opinion. Alas, this is a major horror-movie no-no, and Chucky staggers obnoxiously back to life, with a renewed interest in body-swapping with Andy. Not awful as horror sequels go, this follows the standard horror-franchise formula (such as upping the gore quotient with each sequel) but manages to throw in a few appreciable scares, particularly at the climax (which echoes that of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining). April 05, 2006: not alot of sequels are as good as the original but THIS one is an acception, i thought it was pretty good, this movie is takes place shortly after the 1st one when chucky got burned, we shortly figure out that the body can be destroyed but the soul can't a few minutes into the film the company that is responsible for making the Good Guy Dolls gets a hold of Chuckys ruins and then they rebuild and reawake him and then he continues on in his quest to takeover the body of the only person who knows his secret, an 8 year old boy named Andy Barclay, my opinion on this film is that you should probably go and rent it first and see if you like it (which you probably will) and if you enjoyed it like i did, GO AND BUY IT WITHOUT ANY HESITATION, you will not regret it, the ones you DO have to stay away from are, the 2 recent Chucky films which are Bride of Chucky and Seed Of Chucky.

April 23, 2005: Why are all child's play and nightmare on elm street movies in the horror section because they are not scary they are hilarious. this has to be one of the best horror movies I have ever seen. I liked the part when Chucky gets a knife for a hand and the part when he kills and buries tommy. Those parts were great. I don't know why everyone likes Bride of chucky any way it was stupid. it would be better if it were just him and didnt go on and make Seed of chucky, i didn't see it but I hear its wierd. Another thing is why does bride of chucky get to be in the chucky collection child's play should be in it instead.
