From prime-time kingpin Aaron Spelling comes Charmed, a drama about three lovely sisters who also happen to be witches. When their grandmother dies and leaves them the family house in San Francisco, the Halliwell sisters -- Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) -- move in together and discover they are a powerful trio of witches, or "Charmed Ones." After finding the mysterious Book of Shadows in the attic and reading aloud from it, the sisters are imbued with their powers: Prue can move objects with her mind, Piper can stop time, and Phoebe can see the future. However, according to the book, the activation of these powers comes with a heavy price, because evil witches and warlocks will now be seeking to kill the sisters and steal their magic. The three decide to put rivalries aside, stick together, and protect themselves and their loved ones from evil. As one expects with Spelling, the series’ supernatural elements often service soapy plotlines, such as when Phoebe and Piper cast a spell to attract men in "Dream Sorcerer." Notable episodes include: "Dead Man Dating," in which Piper falls for the ghost of a recently murdered man; "The Wedding from Hell," wherein the sisters face off against a demon goddess; and “The Witch Is Back,” an outing that finds the sisters resurrecting a powerful ancestor to help fight a warlock. Brian Krause, who will eventually become a Charmed regular as otherworldly protector Leo, first appears in "Thank You for Not Morphing." Guest stars this season include David Carradine as an evil warlock, Dark Angel star Michael Weatherly as a young man fighting his dark side, and daytime TV favorite Finola Hughes as Patty, the sisters' mom.
