First-time writer/director J.P. Schaefer takes the reins for this haunting look at the mental collapse of Mark David Chapman in the days leading up to the murder of legendary musician John Lennon. Jared Leto stars as the man whose awe of Lennon and unrelenting drive to achieve infamy pushed him to pull the trigger on the former Beatle, and Lindsay Lohan stars as the devoted Lennon fan who befriended the killer on that fateful New York weekend. March 28, 2009: I saw this movie, and it was, let's say, too quick, too soon. The story was confusing enough, due to the portayal of a negative, complicated loser, who wanted nothing more than to take the life of a beloved musician. Mark David Chapman compares himself to Holden Caulfield in "The Catcher in the Rye," which is quite obvious if you have read the novel before, which I had to do in school. He is just like Holden himself, which I find awfully sad. In this movie, Mark does nothing, but take advantage of the people surrounding him, especially with the people who have met, have connections with, and the actual fans of Beatle, John Lennon. The whole movie made me horribly sad because I am a fan of John Lennon, and the Beatles themselves. Though I thought Jared Leto did a great portayal of Mark, it was complete torture watching Chapman create a plot to murder John Lennon.
