Editorial Reviews

The five-member collective Celtic Woman put a modern spin on traditional Irish music and are quickly becoming a worldwide sensation. Singers Chloë, Lisa, Méav, and Órla, along with violinist Máiréad Nesbitt, perform both solo and in breathtaking ensemble pieces where their voices meld like haunting echoes heard over mountains, valleys, and lakes. Their first DVD is a special 2004 performance taped in front of a Dublin audience at the prestigious Helix Centre. Highlights include the singers' unique interpretations of such timeless Irish classics such as "Danny Boy," as well as contemporary hits such as Enya's "Orinoco Flow" and the Clannad staple "Harry's Game." A musical duel between violinist Nesbitt and two handsome Irish bodhrán drummers has the audience dancing out of their seats. Whether you dance at home while watching this disc is up to you, but Celtic Woman are certainly capable of stirring one to action. Barnes & Noble

January 12, 2008: I saw Celtic Woman last year on my local PBS station and I couldn't stop watching them. They are wonderful! Their voices, oh man, I really wished I had their voices. They sound angelic. For all those who have not heard of them, buy one of their CDs or DVDs. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
