Editorial Reviews

Mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli continues her Maria project with this 2-DVD set. The project explores the life and music of Maria Malibran, the famed 19th-century diva who was adored by Bellini and indeed almost all of European society. Works were regularly composed especially for her, and she was even immortalized by George Sand.

DVD 1 features a complete live concert from Barcelona, including highlights from the Maria album and Rossini’s "Willow Song" as a DVD exclusive. DVD 2 features a fascinating 70-minute film, Malibran Rediscovered, that follows Bartoli as she researches the life of Malibran, records the album, and prepares for the concert. From the Studio

May 23, 2009: She is absolutely astounding. I bought the CD first and had to get the DVD for my family. My wife, my six kids and I can't get enough of Bartoli. VIVA BARTOLI! I highly recommend this DVD.
