Editorial Reviews

Set fifty years before the events of Battlestar Galactica, Caprica follows the rivalry between two feuding families competing and thriving in the 12 Colonies. Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and Joseph Adama (Esai Morales) both sit at the head of powerful tables. Their world is at the peak of its power, yet as science and technology both continue to grow, so too does the potential for disaster. As artificial intelligence and technology paves the way towards the future - and the dreaded Cylons - corporate conspiracy and sexual politics put the Graystones and the Adamas on a tragic collision course. November 19, 2009: When I first heard of Caprica, I wasn't sure what to make of it. When I got it and watched it, I found I really enjoyed it. I agree with other reviewers that it would have been nice for this to have been filmed first, but after seeing the re-imagined BSG, I now see why they waited. I know this 2 hour premiere does not answer the questions from the series, but it leads us into that. We get to see the first Cylon being created, before they were even called Cylons. We get to see the beginnings of the "One God" religion that the Cylons held true to the entire BSG run, and we get to see life as it was on the colony worlds. This is a refreshing take on adding a brand new history into the legacy of BSG. I love the interaction of Esai Morales and Eric Stoltz after the accident that claims their daughters' lives. They are two men who gravitate towards one another for support because they have both experienced this horrific tragedy. I like watching the interplay between Lacy and the VR Zoe and how their friendship still shines through. Polly Walker's Sister Clarice does an excellent game of deceit and coersion of Lacy to bring her over to the Soldiers of the One. If you watch the deleted scenes, it brings the relationship of Zoe and Ben into a whole new light. It will be interesting to see how his avatar will play a role in the upcoming series, and what the reaction will be of the father to see the true Cylon Zoe moving around. It had me hooked from the beginning, and makes me want more of the series come January, 2010.

I Also Recommend: Battlestar Galactica, Battlestar Galactica, Battlestar Galactica (2004) - Season 1, Battlestar Galactica (2004) - Season 1, Battlestar Galactica - Season 2.0.

October 17, 2009: I wish that the creaters would have made this before "Battlestar Galactica," however, I am glad that they made this.

"Caprica" gives great background into the creatation of the Cylons and can't wait until SyFy shows the series (hopefully).
