Editorial Reviews

Lawrence Kasdan's first directorial effort is a throwback to the early days of film noir. The scene is a beastly hot Florida coastal town, where naive attorney Ned (William Hurt) is entranced by the alluring Matty (Kathleen Turner in her film debut). Ned is manipulated into killing Matty's much older husband (Richard Crenna), the plan being that Ned's knowledge of legal matters will enable both conspirators to escape scott-free. This might have been the case, had not Matty been infinitely craftier than the cloddish Ned. Just when it seems as though the film has run out of plot twists, we're handed yet another surprise. May 01, 2007: Body Heat is an awesome erotic dark thriller...the best ever film noir, and one that haunts for years after seeing it...Kathleen Turner's Matty would turn any man into a lusty animal and her ability to do so is demonstrated by the most dramatic and intense seduction scene ever where the caged animal (lawyer) is outside the house pacing upon his quarry Matty until his lust builds to the feral boiling point...WOW! What a scene! That's the way it's done! Haven't seen anything like it since.

October 28, 2005: This is one of those rare films that can stay with you for a lifetime. Kathleen Turner plays the femme fatale Matty Walker of sultry West Palm Beach Florida, and in her first screen role she delivers a knockout. This film is as sexy and suspenseful as it gets. Lawrence Kasdan could have won a Best Oscar for directing, and William Hurt and the supporting roles of Ted Danson, J.A. Preston, Richard Crenna and a cameo by young Mickey Rourke are all top-notch. The score is also incredibly haunting. One of the best thrillers ever.
