When the Beatles Anthology first aired worldwide in 1995, the miniseries -- paired with the simultaneous release of three double-CD sets that included the first new Beatles songs since the band's 1970 breakup -- played out as a global media event. Although the songs, "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love," didn't quite hold up to "Yesterday" and "Hey Jude," the sheer bulk of brilliant material and fascinating tidbits collected in the two projects left most fans delighted. This five-DVD set collects all 8 hours of the original miniseries and adds 81 minutes of bonus features sure to thrill fans old and new -- including footage of Paul, George, and Ringo jamming during breaks in the filming of Anthology and reminiscing about their salad days. For the uninitiated, Beatles Anthology is the most comprehensive video document available on the lives of the Fab Four, spanning virtually every stage of their musical evolution. From the band's days in Liverpool to the height of Beatlemania and into the era of late-'60s psychedelia, few stones are left unturned. Hours of rare interview footage imbue the miniseries with an almost disarming intimacy -- the well-known footage of awestruck, screaming teenage fans is trumped by a probing look at the Beatles' internal dynamic, particularly after the death of John Lennon. Ultimately, Anthology remains the standard bearer for Beatles lore, and even those who only know the music from elevator rides will gain a fuller understanding of the foursome's singular position in the 20th century's most culturally tumultuous decade. February 25, 2009: If you are a true Beatles fan, then this is the collection for you. I had recently got this, and I could barely control myself. I instantly watched it, and I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. The whole story grabs you, and the Beatles themselves become very open and shared all of their memories and the legacy they left behind. The documentary is filled with different concert and television appearances, and also when they were filming their films. The only downside of the anthology is that they don't talk much about their relationships with their girlfriends and wives. It was mostly about the music and the Beatles themselves, though what do you expect? The best thing about this documentary is that every DVD is a different time of their career - the Hamburg Days, the Hard Days Night Days, Sgt. Pepper Days and so forth. It really takes you back to the sixties. I highly recommend it to anyone.

September 26, 2003: I am six-teen years old. the beatles are still one of the greatest bands in the world. NExt to led zeppelin and pink floyd. this anthology set just proves it, its funny entertaining and just plain GOOD or capitol good not exactly plain good.
