    Editorial Reviews

Author and philosopher Ayn Rand (born Alice Rosenbaum) developed an intense following in the 1930s and '40s for her best-selling novels The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and her anti-Communist, pro-Capitalism creed of Objectivism. Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life is a two-and-a-half hour exploration of her life, work, and influence, featuring newsreel footage of Rand and interviews with her friends, associates, and followers. Narrated by actress Sharon Gless, Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Documentary Feature of 1998. Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

August 15, 2009: This documentary is a thought-provoking look at a very interesting philosopher and writer. Ayn Rand's life story is as dramatic as it is unique and the film takes you on a wonderful ride with her.

September 26, 2008: A wonderful account about certainly one of the most thoughtful writers/philosophers in American history. Individualism over collectivism is her committed goal in all of her writings. Truly extraordinary work and absolutely riveting to read and/or listen to. Her books, The Fountainhead, and her crowing achievement, Atlas Shrugged, even today, 26 years after her death, sell 200,000 copies a year. Clearly she's touched an American cord of great value and hugely important as Americans struggle in the effort to defeat collectivism.
