    Editorial Reviews

Made the tradition of Searching for Angela Shelton and other recent documentaries with similar premises, the nonfiction opus Awful Normal concerns Karen and Celesta Davis, two sisters molested by the same individual on a repeated basis. The violations began in 1978, and though the Davis girls informed their parents, the parents failed to take effective action (such as summoning authorities or severing contact with the said individual). This film finds Karen and Celesta - now fully grown up - seeking out the molester and confronting him with questions about why he tortured them systematically and ripped away their innocence. Awful Normal reflects at length on how such childhood traumas can psychologically scar or ruin successive generations. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide All Movie Guide
