The fussy -- yet loving -- married couple of Jean (Dame Judi Dench) and Lionel Pargetter (Geoffrey Palmer) return in these two one-hour reunion specials, which aired on American PBS stations in December of 2005. The specials focus on the return of couples Alistair and Judith, and Harry and Sandy to the Pargetter's Hardcastle home.

This two-hour special continues the story from the popular British television series As Time Goes By. Judi Dench returns to the role of Jean Pargetter who spends much of the time eagerly anticipating grandchildren even though neither of her daughters are pregnant. After a day full of personal revelations, she has a conversation with husband Lionel (Geoffrey Palmer) asking him why he never had kids during his first marriage. A young man who claims to be Lionel's son approaches the couple. The second half of the story involves unwanted help offered to the childless couples, and an injury to a family member that leads to everyone being at the hospital at the same time. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide
