A hunt for biochemical terrorists gets a supernatural twist as a band of heroic soldiers stumble into a mine inhabited by angry spirits in Walter von Huene's unusual hybrid action entry. Special Forces captain Aldo Paccione (Franco Columbu) has never found a mission too dangerous to tackle, and when the government discovers that a rouge group of mercenaries are developing biochemical weapons deep in the mines of Sardinia, he assembles a crack Delta Force team to move in and eliminate the threat. As Captain Paccione and his team descend into the mines, the disturbance soon awakens the angry souls of ancient warriors who aren't too pleased to be woken from their centuries-long slumber. March 27, 2004: This is not a true horror film at all. The plot is hard to follow and there are only about three scenes of 'ancient warriors,' which make you feel as if the director had his three-year old get on and do the special effects. The characters consist of a group of (possibly)Secret Service agents, an older man searching for a fabled chalice which will, in effect, give him eternal youth, a psychic who would do better running a 1-800 hotline, a mentally challenged girl, her insipid mother, and yet another Baldwin. All of the acting seems forced and (obviously) unrealistic. The 'bad' guys (although it becomes increasingly hard to tell who those are) are supposed to be involved in some type of chemical weapons operation, but the movie only vaguely pursues that. All in all, this movie is full of holes and bad acting and your time would be better spent with a good book.
