    Editorial Reviews

In recent years, very few dramatic shows have captured the public fancy like 24, the televised equivalent of those old cliff-hanger movie serials that left their protagonists in life-threatening situations at the end of every installment. Having established itself previously with two superb seasons -- each telling a story that unfolds over a single day in one-hour increments -- the show began its third year with an even more ambitious story line. This time around, Counter Terrorism Unit agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) succumbs to the demands of narco-terrorists and breaks drug lord Ramon Salazar (Joachim De Almeida) out of prison to prevent the use of a biological weapon unwittingly smuggled into Los Angeles by one of Salazar's mules. As if that wasn't enough, President David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), facing a tough reelection campaign, learns that his new lover may be implicated in an extortion plot. There are numerous subplots, one of which revolves around Bauer's trouble-prone daughter, Kim (Elisha Cuthbert), now working at CTU. Overall, the third season is marginally less satisfying than its predecessors, but only because the various parallel narratives are watered down with too many extraneous diversions. It still makes gripping entertainment, though, and there's no shortage of physical action and nail-biting suspense along with the political intrigue. The seven-disc collection will likely make history for one of the supplements: a ten-minute "prequel" to Season 4 that introduces new characters and bridges the between-seasons continuity gap. Primarily, it reveals that Bauer is transferred out of CTU, setting up his adversarial relationship with the unit's new chief. This little back-story is unique to the DVD box; the footage was shot with the collection in mind and won't be seen on air. Ed Hulse, Barnes & Noble

July 02, 2009: I LOVE 24!!!.I got addicted to it January of this year.(Kinda late).I finished season six in April.Season one was good and the way it ended made me want to plug in season two as fast as I could.Season three is my FAVORITE season out of all seven. It starts out three years after season 2.We see the same C.T.U.building and some new cast.Ten Minutes into season three we see some new cast(Chloe,Chase,Wayne,Adam) at C.T.U. and we found out that Tony and Michelle got Married between seasons.OH MY GOSH they are my favorite couple of 24.We see that Jack has come back to C.T.U. and is helping run the place next to his now good friend Tony Almeida. The Threat is a virus that kills within 18hours if exposed. The day goes on and leaves you with worse cliff hangers then the second season. The day takes a big turn when Tony Almeida is taken to the hospital.Michelle being second in command has to stay behind and help with the threat knowing that is what Tony would want her to do.One of the biggest issues in this season is conflict.Between Chase and Jack and between Tony and Michelle after Tony comes back to C.T.U.This show keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.Especially the last five episodes.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOW TO EVERYONE.BUT BEWARE YOU WILL GET ADDICTED AFTER THE FIRST SEASON.TRUST ME.I THOUGHT I WOULDN'T GET ADDICTED TO ANOTHER COP SHOW BUT AFTER THE FIRST EPISODE IT HAD ME UNDER IT'S SPELL OF ADDICTION.

season 1 ausome, 2 alright and season 3 outstandingby Anonymous
